Cycling
Cycling is one of the most beautiful ways to discover the picturesque landscapes of our beautiful country Croatia. Cycling has become increasingly popular in recent years and Croatia offers numerous opportunities for cycling, from mountain biking roads to paved roads that are ideal for a family outing. The largest Croatian peninsula Istria is an extremely popular year-round cycling destination with about 120 routes, and in every part of it, you can find extremely demanding trails, as well as rural and coastal ones. The Kvarner region with its excellent mountain bike trails represents a true paradise for the off-road routes fans, while discovering the Dalmatia's enchanting nature by bike provides a unique experience. Cycling through yellow grain fields and rivers of Slavonija also provides an idyllic experience. Osijek has the most kilometers of cycle paths, and the promenade along the Drava River is entirely a cycle path.
Diving
Once you dive into the depths of the Croatian Adriatic, you will not want to emerge as quickly. Besides the richness of plants and animal world, there are also many wrecks of the Navy and Roman galleys, as well as amphorae that are often found in underwater archeological research. On organized tours, experienced divers can explore the Croatian underwater world, while beginners are offered numerous diving schools. One of the most famous Croatian diving sites is near Rovinj, where the Austrian-Hungarian passenger steamship Baron Gutsch was sunk. There is also the island of Premuda, which belongs to the Zadar archipelago, whose underwater hides a cave system called the Cathedral, then Kampanel on Long Island, which is one of the most beautiful and demanding diving sites, and the island of Mljet, which also hides many attractive diving sites, and one of the most gorgeous is located around Cape Lenge.
Kayaking&rafting
In recent years, kayaking in Croatia has become extremely popular. Whether you like to row in sit on top or closed kayak, fun is guaranteed. Rafting, on the other hand, is a more extreme sport, requiring good human strength to flow through dense river currents in inflatable riverboats. The Gacka River is safe and quiet, perfect for a day kayak trip and a relaxing family getaway. Rafting can be enjoyed at numerous locations - Kupa, Mrežnica, Korana, Zrmanja, while rafting on the Cetina River is an excellent choice for those who want to feel the dose of real adrenaline.
Walking&hiking
Mountaineering is another very interesting activity for active holidays fans, and Croatia offers a wide range of choices in this regard. Each trail and each hill is special in its own way, and regardless of which direction you decide to go, one is for sure – beauties of Croatia sites will take your breath away. Trails for beginners can be found in Zagreb, Ogulin, Split and Omiš, while Velebit, Učka, Mosor, and Dinara are more for experienced hikers. Some of the best hiking spots in Croatia are covered in snow in winter, but if you decide to visit in late spring or early fall, the experience will be unforgettable. Large peaks in Croatia are easily accessible due to their small height not exceeding 2000 meters. The landscapes are diverse, the peaks are different; most of the Pannonian part is covered with forest, while the peaks of the Dinaric part of Croatia are bare with good viewpoints.
Air sports
Discovering the beauties of Croatia from the air is a special experience for adrenaline rush enthusiasts. Skydiving is a modern extreme sport which gives you a sense of freedom and a great bird's eye view of the environment. Jump in a wingsuit is intended for experienced skydivers only. Base jumping is performed by parachute from a stationary place and very popular locations for this activity are, for example, Paklenica and Velebit. Hang gliding is another exciting activity often described as air sailing where you can experience rivers and seas, towns and villages in a completely different way with the help of a special kite-like aircraft. Admittedly, there are many options, but in the end, it is up to you to choose the most attractive one.
Aqua Parks
From descending on endless slides, jumping on a trampoline and dipping into the pool...water parks are the perfect funtime for the whole family. Last ten years several aqua parks have been built along the Adriatic coast and are mostly opened from May /June to September. The first Croatian Aquapark Čikat on the island of Lošinj was opened in 2015 and has numerous swimming pools and various water amenities. Aquapark Dalmatia is the first water theme park in Dalmatia, located within the Solaris hotel complex in Šibenik. Its six slides and water fortress stand out among different amenities. The largest Croatian water park suitable for all ages is Aquacolors in the city of Poreč. Except water attractions, which include two giant water slides, a large children's swimming pool, and a family water slide, the park offers excellent food and refreshments. Aquapark Istralandia is located nera Novigrad and covers the area of 81,000 m2. Attractive slides, an artificial wave pool, and rich animation programme are the perfect recipe for enjoyment and relaxation.
